Set the vport to the UCS. Zoom to the correct scale. Lock the vport. return to model space and set the UCS back to WCS, and leave it there. When I need to add text I do it through the vport. For single C3D objects (i.e. a table, a surface model, a group of labels) it works great. For dependent/compound objects (i.e. profile views, section views) it only brings back the grid, not the associated data. There are so many dependencies, though - I wouldn't rely on it for major stuff.Louisa Hollandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01577832391625166984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31126944.post-86742500454866168852011-11-03T10:56:34.844-05:002011-11-03T10:56:34.844-05:00How well does the oops command work with Civil 3D ...How well does the oops command work with Civil 3D objects? I rarely rotate in modelspace, I mostly rotate viewports only, so this method works good for me.

Rotate my viewport with the settings at 1, view rotates with the viewport, then set it to 0, and rotate it back. You just have to be more aware of what your UCS settings are before you insert or xref other content.

One particular thing that I do all day is to set the UCS to "View" which is a newer option. This way text, multileaders, dimensions, etc. come in oriented to the viewport.

We have two basic Lisp routines - "UCV" changes the UCS to view; "UCW" changes it to world. Although it is pretty simple even without those.

All this to say - don't be afraid of changing UCS.
